More about us!

Jane Upson:  Jane spent almost 27 years as Police staff within the MPS and worked for 13 years assisting police officers in supporting victims of domestic abuse and hate crime.  As a result she has gained a wealth of experience in victim care and the services available to help those affected by heinous crimes such as domestic, homophobic and racially-motivated abuse.  She retired from the MPS in 2018, when she was presented with a certificate for 'Exemplary Conduct' from the Commissioner, Cressida Dick.  Jane is an animal lover and enjoys long walks in the countryside taking time out to enjoy what nature has to offer.

Vincent Murray:  Vincent's artistic career stretches over many years.  Apart from on stage productions (which have  included Variety,  Old Time Music Hall, Pantomime, Comedy and Drama) he has taken part in a TV reality programme and appeared in several films.  Wendy came to know Vincent when he auditioned for her to take part in a pantomime she was staging.  From then on Vincent took part in many of Wendy's productions.  He has a unique artistic flair and Safeword Theatre is fortunate to have him as its artistic director.

Wendy Walker:  Wendy has worked within the theatre industry for many years and is also a published writer.  Her first stage role was in a play called 'Laughter in the Dark', a comedy which inspired Wendy both as a writer and actor to further her career.  Over the years Wendy has appeared in pantomime, Olde-Tyme Music Hall and variety as well as in other comedy and dramas.  She has also been a writer/director for several music hall companies and written a children's book and a series of short stories.  At present she is the writer and director for Safeword Theatre and Film Production Ltd.

Kim Pike:  Kim has assisted Wendy, Jane and Vince with theatre productions for a number of years and performed front of house when they wrote and staged 'Olde Tyme Music Hall'.  She became the Networking Director upon the formation of Safeword Theatre & Film Production Ltd.  Kim and Jane have been firm friends since working together in the early 1990's at Southwark Police Station.  Kim also likes to assist at community events and has spent her working life with the Metropolitan Police Service in a variety of roles.  She is a people person who goes out of her way to make them feel welcome and enjoys meeting up with friends and family.  Of course she also likes to visit the theatre!
